writer's block

I have had a writer’s block for quite some time now. It’s true there is a lot going on in my life at the moment, and that may be one of the reasons.

Even now as I sit and write this I find myself looking for excuses not to write. At the same time I feel there is so much I want to say.

Michael Jackson - How We See Him and Ourselves

Posted in Conscious Awareness, Self Awareness and Self Help on July 12th, 2009 by Birte – 4 Comments

I found this fascinating quote today:

What I will say is this; I refuse to see Michael Jackson through a single lens.  A lens given to me by a bias media feeding frenzy who just a few years ago tortured Michael with a complete lack of privacy, judging his every action as that of someone who was “wacko”. The same media today deify the man with 24-hour news coverage.dovbaron.com, Jul 2009

Life Lessons vs Conscious Awareness Development

Not long ago I wrote an article titled The Pitcher and The Container. I wrote about self development as structured or private, on participating in self awareness seminar and workshops, on learning our life lessons.

The article received a lot of comments, remarks and questions. To my great surprise some of the comments were in a line and of a character I had not expected. These comments made me think and think hard. That’s why I like comments on what I write, no matter where.

I have been involved with what I will here call “structured” personal development for more than 25 years. And like with so many things in life I take it for granted that people know, what that stands for.

From the comments I realized that what I understand as self development and conscious awareness is not read more »

Robotic Conditioning Through a Joke

From inspirational lessons of life quotes

“Be around people who can keep your energy and inspiration high. While you can make progress alone, it’s so much easier when you have support.”
Dr. Joe Vitale: Marketing and Copy Writing author, one of the stars of The Secret

The Robotic Conditioning Began

When I read this quote, it reminded me of a joke that ran in my family about me. The story was that almost the first words that I learned to say were: I self, meaning - I can do it by myself, I don’t need your help.

Now this is very cute and even wonderful in a small child. We all want our children to be independent and capable young people and adults.

The problem was that I took it too much to heart. I have always wanted to do things by myself to such an extent that I was not a team player. Don’t take me wrong. I know how to work with people, but always there has to be that way out. Don’t strangle me. I need to be able to show how capable I am of doing it alone.

Until I understood this about myself there were many a time when I would say: Why must I do it all alone? Why am I not part of the crowd? This was especially true as a teenager (when we anyway feel we are different from everybody else, and long more than anything else to belong and to conform).

Once I understood this, I was able to accept it and change and become a team player, when I decided that was the right thing. I am still very independent, but it’s out of choice, not robotic conditioning.

Your turn. Tell me how this affected your life. Leave me a comment.

Gratitude Is Attitude

Choose an attitude of gratitude and your life will be rich. Choose an attitude of gratitude when setting goals. Choose an attitude of gratitude when reaching your goals.

All religions, all cultures teach gratitude. Why do we have to be taught? It should be obvious to be grateful.

What is there to be grateful for, when my life stinks? you may say.

Well, maybe your life stinks because you are not grateful for what you do have. And believe me, if you are able to read this you truly have a lot to be grateful for:
